The club is proud to say that with only a year since its creation. Downey FC has proven to be a top quality soccer club. Soccer is a growing sport in the US and the City of Downey has talent in its youth. Downey FC is ready to provide the resources for players who wish to take their game to a competitive level.

DOWNEY FC GIRLS U12 SILVER REACHES A MILESTONE IN STATE CUP PLAYOFFS....
Head Coach Joul Farah is walking tall since his team was able to achive a milestone in the 2009-2010 Cal South Presidents State Cup Tournament. One must go back a year to know all the hard work these young ladies have done to achive such Milestone. As a young team Downey FC Girls U12 Silver was in a brink of dissolving. Along came a coach who after just a few practice sessions he knew this team was a contender for the prestigious title. The regular season was no walk in the park with a record of 7-3-4 and a total of 22 goals scored during the season the team set its focus in reaching the finals of Cal South's State Cup. Playing in the Presidents Cup you are facing the top teams in Southern California, this was not a problem for the team since they had a coach who was no stranger to a high level of competition. Thoughout the year Coach Farah developed a program that ensured that the team would be ready for the Level of competition the team would face. The team did great advancing thru the round of 32 and reaching the sweet 16 round, by beating their opponent 3-0. In the quarter finals they matched up with the FC Blades and came out victorious with a 2-1 win. Know their eyes were set for the final but first they had to face the South Bay Force. It was a game of champions. Under culd weather the stage was set in the City of Lancaster. Completing, the full game in regulation time and a score of 0-0 the teams regrouped and faced off in OT. Again with each team giving everything they had time ran out and know it was a duel of PK's. Lady luck was not on their side this time around. But the important thing is that a team that was inspired by players who know that they still have many years of playing. You can be certain that in 2010 everyone will be looking at them as they take the field and conquer many tournaments and most definately reaching the finals in the 2010-11 Cal South State Cup Tournament.
